"Colourful China" 多彩中国
The adult Mandarin class in Harlow Chinese School attended Yan's session, to learn about:
1) A brief feature comparison between the western music and the Chinese folk music.
2) A brief introduction to Chinese 56 Chinese ethnic groups. To know a few main features of the major minorities' folk songs, costumes, religious, etc.
3) To sing a Tibetan folk style song called The Himalayas, composed by Yan.

Below is the link to listen to the song Yan wrote:

July 2014 中国民族服饰着装聚会
An oriental dressed party for a lady's choir. All the beautiful oriental costumes were from the different ethnic groups. We even learned a Malaysian folk song called BURUNG KAKATUA. The lyrics is very funny, An old sister bird, perched on the window sill. Grandma is now quite old of her teeth, only two remain. A special thank to Lee from Malaysia for teaching us the lyrics and telling us a bit history about Malaysia.
If you want to learn it, here is a link. http://youtu.be/iAO_wpd2dH4

July 2012
Chinese Workshop
In a secondary school in Hertfordshire. Listen to part of the recorded session by clicking the link: http://youtu.be/JtHjQmdgaPw or

It's a wonderful chance to introduce our colourful Chinese culture to the English students. We had so much fun on watching a couple of boys in bright colour Chinese ladies' traditional costumes. They even volunteered to learn some traditional dance movements. After introduced a basic Chinese musical information and taught them a Chinese folk song, the session finished with a quiz. These boys and girls did really well on matching the costumes, dance movements, greeting words with the minority names and their residential locations on map of China. When they were leaving, they all looked so excited, their teacher had to stop their questions, for example, "Is there Google in China?", "Do you like noodles?". A girl told me that this was the most interesting session she ever had.

2010 to 2011
Performed Chinese folk songs in a few concerts with choir.
